Essential Information

Essential Information

Clothing

Whatever the weather, and whatever the forecast, please bring a waterproof and warm clothing and footwear. There can be considerable wind chill as we speed along and we want you to keep warm and dry even when there is sea spray around.

Footwear suitable for walking is a good choice if you are joining us for a landing trip, since ground can be uneven, steep, soft, and wet underfoot.

Food and drink

Unless stated otherwise in your joining instructions, you are required to be self-sufficient for food and drink and should bring your own if you want.

Sea sickness

Although we have minimal instances of seasickness, for longer all-day trips at sea you may choose to take steps to minimise the risk by using sea-bands/travel bands, Stugeron, Kwells, or some other form of motion sickness deterrent. These are widely available at pharmacies or local shops. Some passengers speak highly of Scopoderm travel sickness patches, which are available over the counter without a prescription at pharmacies.

Pets

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on our boat trips.

Minimum age

Please note that on the information page for each tour, we have indicated the minimum age requirement. The minimum age has been set by us based on our experience in operating boat trips and in the interests of safety for the young person and the enjoyment of other passengers. In general, all ages are welcome except for the sea angling trips, for which we do set a minimum age.

Weather and schedules

Our stated journey plan and duration are approximate and can change due to weather, tides and unforeseen circumstances. There’s also a risk of cancellation in the event of unsuitable wind and sea conditions. Where possible we offer the opportunity to travel on day following a cancellation.

Cancellation policy

You can cancel your booking any time up until 48 hours before the tour is due to depart and receive a full refund. If you cancel your booking within 48 hours of departure, you will not receive a refund.

If we have to cancel a sailing due to bad weather, we will try to book you onto another sailing. However, if this cannot be arranged for you, then you will receive a full refund.

You do not have to book in advance. You are welcome to simply come to the marina and, if there is space on the boat, you can join a tour. Of course, it’s possible the tour may be fully booked so there is no guarantee you will be able to board in this case.

Finding us

Our boat is in Lochinver marina, at the far end of Lochinver harbour. Come along the road right through the harbour and near the end of the road, you’ll see the pontoons to your right. There’s a small car park there where you can park for free. If you arrive early, take a stroll along the breakwater, just beyond the marina, for great views of the village, the loch, and the surrounding mountains.
