Your skipper and boat crew will be suitably experienced and qualified and are primarily there for your safety. Our experienced guides have extensive knowledge of local folklore, geology, wildlife and natural history. We draw from a pool of excellent skippers and Crew/ Guides including:

Derek Gordon (Skipper/Founder)

Derek’s experience operating boats has given him the opportunity to gain an intimate knowledge of the coastline around Scotland’s islands and the mainland.

Skippering responsibilities have also taken Derek all the way around Ireland including visits to Skellig Michael, by sea from central London to Skye, north to Orkney, and along most of the canals and other navigable inland waterways in Scotland.

Derek is dual-qualified MCA Master 200 and  RYA Yachtmaster Offshore. He annually undertakes additional maritime training.

Nicola Kulesza (Crew Person/Guide)

Nicola has worked on the West Coast of Scotland for the past 6 years and has landed on almost every Hebridean island. Nicola has a degree in Zoo Biology and her passions include wildlife conservation, landscape photography and art.

In addition to being a popular guide, Nicola is an experienced photographer, boat skipper and has Spanish as a second language. Nicola is also one of handful of medics trained to rescue large whales entangled in fishing gear at sea!

Peter Webster (Crew/Guide)

Born in Scotland, Peter became fascinated with nature and wildlife from a very young age. This early interest led to him earning a degree in conservation biology, an M.Sc in marine and fisheries ecology and is currently studying for an M.Sc in digital mapping. Peter worked as Field Diving Officer with the British Antarctic Survey in 2012, where he managed dive operations working on a wide range of research on climate change, ocean acidification, and increased seabed disturbance by icebergs.

Subsequently, Peter worked as the first mate for one of the UK’s fisheries enforcement groups. Peter has completed several thousand dives from sites including Scotland, Antarctica, Iceland, Argentina and the South Pacific. Peter is also an avid photographer, certified photo instructor, and boat skipper.

Andy Kulesza (Skipper)

Andy Kulesza’s spent the 2017 season skippering boats from Skye to St Kilda with ‘Go to St Kilda’. He is qualified to RYA Yachtmaster and Master 200 level.

Andy is passionate about wildlife with particular interest in the White Tailed Sea Eagle, the largest bird of prey in the UK. He spends most winters exploring different regions of the world.
